- Ca’ Rezzonico: a richly furnished Baroque palace, one of the most splendid one in Venice. It houses the museum of the 18th century Venice: I would like you to enter with me and discover the life of that period and to imagine what it was like to live in that time as I take you through it. The collection includes ceiling frescoes by Tiepolo, paintings by Canaletto, Guardi, Longhi…
- Scuola Grande di San Rocco and Basilica dei Frari: enter these two beautiful places, one of the major Venetian confraternities with Tintoretto’s extensive decoration campaign and the huge church famous for works by Titian and other masterpieces. Particularly interesting is the elaborate wooden choir which stands in the centre of the nave. The bell-tower, 70 meters in height, is the tallest in the city after Saint Mark’s.
- Accademia Galleries: the largest and most important collection of Venetian painting, housed in a complex of a former church, convent and school of devotion. Walking through the huge rooms of the museum you can appreciate the transformation of the painting through the centuries, from the 1300s to the 1700s, from the Byzantine through the Renaissance to the Baroque and the Rococo, from Paolo Veneziano to the Bellini family, from Carpaccio to Giorgione, from Lotto to Veronese, from Tiziano to Tintoretto, from Tiepolo to Carriera…
- Peggy Guggenheim Collection: this museum is an extremely interesting collection of modern art, where we can find masterpieces by Picasso, De Chirico, Mondrian, Dalì, Magritte and Pollock, just to mention a few names. Learn about the life of Peggy Guggenheim and walk through the rooms of her house and see what she collected: the museum’s core collection cover various areas of interest, sculptures and paintings, that illustrate aspects of Cubism, Abstraction, Surrealism and American Expressionism.
- Grimani-Querini: move through the rooms of these incredible palaces, live and dream of the life of the Venetian aristocracy. The 16th century palazzo Grimani was opened to the public on December 2008 and it is extremely original for the city because of its classical stamp with extraordinary stuccoworks and frescos. The museum Querini Stampalia detains its 18th century and neoclassical furniture, an atmosphere of a noble residence is bestowed by fabrics, mirrors and lamps of Murano glass.
- Palazzo Mocenigo and Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista: Palazzo Mocenigo was the residence from the 17th century of a branch of one of the most important families of the Venetian patriciate. Particular attention is paid to the history of the family, perfume, fashion and costumes. Saint John the Evangelist is a religious complex incorporating the church, the edifice of the Scuola, a masterpiece of Venetian Renaissance architecture, and a precious “campiello” (courtyard) with the elegant portal by Pietro Lombardo (1480).
